So it started Nov 22nd at 10:26 pm, I was sitting at the table conversing with Robert & our nephew Chris. I had just finished eating my dinner, Chris was getting ready to leave & made a comment about me not going into labor, he finally left & that is when I spun around on my chair to stand up and go to bed, when I felt my water break, and immediately soaked my pants. I called my Mom up who was in the front room, and asked her to come to the dining room to help me get ready. Robert had just went upstairs to take his shower and go to bed. Well, his son had other plans.
At this point I really wasn't having any contractions. I called the advice nurse line, and was told to go ahead & get ready to go to L&D. I get to L&D around 11 am. At 11:30 am they checked me & I was 3 cm dilated, 80% effaced & -3 station. At this point it doesn't look like he will be born on Daddy's birthday.
At this time the contractions were still manageable, and I was texting away. LOL At 1:15 am they started getting stronger. She checked me again at 1:30 & I was at 4 cm still 80% effaced & -3 station. I was starting to hurt a little with the contractions, so I asked for the IV meds, and boy was that a mistake. They give me the meds, and I start to feel better right away, so I decide since it's going to take awhile, I will try to rest.
I was up visiting with my mom, Robert & our nephew Chris, who left around 4. I dozed off shortly after he left, only to be awaken by the painful contractions I was now having. This was at 5 am, I woke up with the urge to push, and a lot of pressure. So the nurse checks me, and sadly I was only 5 cm & still only 80% effaced. But they contractions just weren't going away, and they were coming hard. Over the next few mins she keep checking me, and by 5:22 am I was ready to push. I started my push and he was here! I went from 5 cm to 10 cm in 22 min, and it hurt like hell.
He was taken to be weighed, and was 7 lb 2 oz & 19 in long. When they took him to check him out they said something about a possible heart murmur, but guess it was nothing cause the ped didn't say anything about it when she came in. He nursed right away from both breasts. We are all happy & excited.
He arrived Nov 23rd, 13 days before his due date. We went home the next day after getting the all clear for both of us. He is such a wonderful baby, he nurses well, and doesn't cry unless he's hungry.
